Cydia Tweak: iRetina+- Customizable SBSettings Theme For iPhone 4

February 16th, 2011 by ytechcity

iretina+

SBSettings theme in Cydia: iRetina+. What is iRetina+? Actually, it’s a theme, but also allows much more customization and control from within this theme! Now, you can change the default iOS blue colour to whatever colour you please. If you’re feeling angry, change it to red. If you’re feeling happy, change it to yellow or perhaps sky blue?

This theme was made specifically for the retina display-ready iOS devices but we have tried it on previous iOS device models and it works great, still.

iRetina+ is available for $3.00 in Cydia Store via ModMyi repo. But if you are an iRetina customer already, you can make an upgrade for only $1.00.

iPhone app: Skype- Video Calls on Your iPhone

December 30th, 2010 by ytechcity

iphone-Skype-Video-Call

The latest Sykpe for iPhone update today and finally lets you do video calls over wifi or 3G to another iPhone or to a Skype desktop user.

This update is long overdue. Since the iPhone 4 launched in June, introducing FaceTime, we’ve all been waiting for Skype to catch up and update their application to allow video calls. FaceTime is great, but not everyone owns an iPhone 4, thus it makes it hard to have a video call with someone who’s not an iPhone 4 user…

This isn’t a problem anymore. You’ll now be able to make video calls from iPhone to iPhone. You can also receive video calls on the third-generation iPod touch and the iPad. You’ll need iOS 4.0 and above to run the latest version of Skype.

Here is what’s new in this updated version of Skype:
• Make Skype to Skype video calls on WiFi and 3G*
• Call Skype desktop users (Mac OS X or Windows) and other iPhone users.
• Two-way video calls supported on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen.
• Receive only video supported on iPad and iPod touch 3rd gen, with no camera.
• Make video calls in portrait and landscape.
• Skype video calling requires iOS 4.0 or above.

You can still get Skype for free in the App Store.

Now tell us. Isn’t it great news that Skype finally lets you do video calls from your iPhone?

News: What iPhone iOS 4.2 Feature You Looking For?

November 10th, 2010 by ytechcity

ios4-2

TiPB have posted a nice and handy walk-through guide for iOS 4.2 features for iPhone, detailing all the new features expected in the latest iOS rollout. An improvement or adjustment I took notice in was the supposed tweaks to the YouTube experience and CoreMIDI support.

While it’s not a major overhaul, there are several features iOS 4.2 is bringing that enhance the user experience – especially for iPad users. So which 4.2 features are you looking forward to getting the most on your iPhone?

Personally, I won’t be enjoying either feature until I know it’s safe to jailbreak 4.2, which shouldn’t be too much longer after the release. So let us know in the comments which feature you’re looking forward to the most!

Watch this space or follow our twitter feed for latest updates, thank you.

vlc_media_player_iPhone

VLC is a free and open source multimedia player. It reads almost every video file, yet it’s very powerful and simple to use. This lets you play unsupported videos such as WMV and AVI on your apple device from email attachments, direct web or even Dropbox. Today, APPLIDIUM, makes VLC available for the iPhone.

This new version of VLC brings :
1. Runs on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the recent iPod touches
2. You can now delete files from the application, without having to go through iTunes
3. Many more extensions are being recognized.
4. Much faster decoding thanks to assembly optimizations

You can download VLC via AppStore or hit the iTunes Link.

iPhone: How to Jailbreak iOS 4.1 via limera1n for Mac user

October 18th, 2010 by ytechcity

Jailbreak iPhone 4 is the hottest tropic at Malaysia now, since Malaysia just launch iPhone 4 less than a month. Wondering how to Jailbreak your iOS 4.1 iPhone? Previous post “iPhone: Limera1n jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch” is talking about Jailbreak iOS 4.1 via limera1n on a PC, btw, limera1n was just updated to support Mac today. After testing, it’s a pretty painless process. You PC users should be able to follow along relatively easily as well since both jailbreaks are pretty much identical in nature. But as usual, here’s the standard disclaimer first:

If you are at all hesitant about jailbreaking or don’t consider yourself an intermediate to advanced user, we recommend you pass this up as we does not accept any responsibility for broken iOS devices (even though we’ll be happy to try and help if you run into any problems along the way).

Jailbreak Step:-
•Visit limera1n.com and download the Mac version (or the PC version if that applies to you)
•Plug in your iOS device (compatible versions: iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generations, iPad)
•Launch limera1n and simply click Make it ra1n
•limera1n will prompt you and walk you through putting your phone in DFU mode
•once in DFU mode, limera1n will jailbreak and reboot your device
•Once your reboot is done (you may have to turn your phone back on, it happened with one of mine) – simply click the limera1n icon and install Cydia.
