AVG, the software firm behind one of the most popular free antivirus solutions in the market, has announced the launch of a new cloud based storage solution called LiveKive.

What is LiveKive?
AVG LiveKive provides simple, safe and reliable storage that makes the process of archiving and sharing content as intuitive and secure as keeping money in a bank.

Why will users want it?
•Uses get five free gigabytes of leading-class secure storage
•Immediate access to content from all their synced devices
•It’s quick and easy to use
•Efficient way of backing up data and safeguarding relevant information and content

During the beta testing phase, AVG will be offering 5 GB of free storage to all users. AVG is promising quick and easy access to stored content from any synced device. Although, the sparsely worded official announcement doesn’t specify which devices will be supported, given AVG’s presence in the Android Market, as well as its availability for Windows and Linux, we are anticipating these platforms will be supported (at the very least).

The beta testing phase was expected to have started from this week. However, it seems to have been delayed. I have reached out to AVG, and will update this post when I hear back from them.

Android News: HTC Desire to get Gingerbread update

February 27th, 2011 by ytechcity

At the MWC 2011 event in Barcelona, HTC confirmed that HTC Desire family will get the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update. However, the update is not coming soon as we thought. HTC might push-in the updates one after the other starting from HTC Desire S that is scheduled to hit the stores in April this year

Three UK has just tweeted to acknowledge that there will be an Android 2.3 update for the original HTC Desire but no timelines are available. If this is true, it will be great news for HTC Desire users making it the 2nd major OS update since its launch early last year with Android 2.1 eclair.

Hopefully, the Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire will also include the latest version of the Sense UI from HTC.
