Maxis has confirmed that the HTC Flyer will be available from them starting May 27.

Earlier in the Memorandum of Understanding sign by Maxis and HTC, the availability of HTC Flyer was set at May 12 but apparently due to unknown issues, the availability date of the flyer had to be delayed.

What is still unclear and is still intriguing to us is the RM199 deal for the HTC Flyer that Maxis says it will be offering. Maxis COO, Jean Pascal Van Overbeke said that the offer is not a gimmick and its something worth looking forward to.

Come May 27, we will all know if this is indeed true.

Yes: Releases Yes Life app for iOS

May 22nd, 2011 by ytechcity

YesLife

Yes had launched its Yes Life app for iOS devices. Now, you can turn your iPod Touch and iPad into a mobile phone, or add a second line to your iPhone with a Yes 018 mobile number. It’s all possible with the new Yes Life for iOS app, now available on the Apple App Store.

With your Yes ID, you can make calls from almost any iOS device. No SIM required. Simply log in to the Yes Life app on any iOS device with your Yes ID, and make calls and SMS from your own number.

Have Yes Life installed on your PC or Mac? Incoming calls will ring all devices you’re logged-in to so you can choose to take it on both your iOS device or computer. Talk about synchronicity.

If you already have an iPhone, the Yes Life app will run in the background, alerting you to any incoming messages or calls. Now you can have two mobile numbers, without a second phone.

Don’t have a Yes ID? You can sign up for a 14-day trial, with RM5 credit, right on the app.

iPhone Apps: RecognizeMe Now Available for Jailbroken iPhone

May 21st, 2011 by ytechcity

RecognizeMe, a jailbreak app that lets you use facial recognition to unlock your iPhone. Instead of using a password you can have your face scanned for verification.

Once installed, RecognizeMe needs to be “trained” to recognize your face. There are other settings to tweak, such as the “Verification Threshold.” When RecognizeMe can scan your face successfully, you can use the app to unlock your iPhone.

On your iPhone’s lock screen, you still have the option to enter a password manually to unlock. But with RecognizeMe, you can also tap a new icon and have your face scanned for verification. If access is not granted, you will be prompted to enter your password anyway, so don’t worry about getting locked out of your iPhone.

RecognizeMe is now available on Cydia for $6.99 via the BigBoss repo. It’s undoubtedly one of the coolest jailbreak apps out there, but is it really worth it to spend 10 waiting for your face to be scanned when you could unlock your phone is just about a second?
