Apple: iTunes Get Wireless Syncing With iOS 5

June 7th, 2011 by ytechcity

Apple announced that users can now sync and backup their iOS devices wirelessly during the WWDC keynote on Monday.

Apple has been promising some sort of wireless PC-free syncing solution for quite some time, but the company has now officially confirmed that the new feature will be introduced with iOS 5.

In iOS 5, the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will automatically find iTunes on a Wi-Fi network and automatically sync and backup apps, contacts and media. This is similar to what Google does with its Android OS, with the exception, of course, that Apple still has an actual program that users can use to monitor backups and programs.

Apple also announced that users who want to be completely PC free can perform cloud backups to the new iCloud service.

Apple: iTunes 10.3 Now Available for Download

iTunes-10_3

It appears that iTunes 10.3 is available for download in certain areas. Even though I can’t see to be able to hit the update, some people are currently downloading it.

iTunes 10.3 will allow you to automatically download new music, app, and book purchases to all your devices. The automatic downloads and downloading of purchase history are available now but they require at least iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM model), iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2, or a Mac or PC with iTunes 10.3…

I’m not sure yet if it’s safe or not for jailbreakers. You might want to hold off on that, just to be on the safe side. Share with us if you able to sync without any issue via jailbreak phone.
