iOS 5: Grid Lines in Camera App

June 26th, 2011 by ytechcity

iOS-5-Grid-Lines-in-camera-app

A new features in iOS 5 in the camera app that brings grid lines to the screen display. The grid lines are very helpful for getting the shot straight (horizon, edges of buildings, etc, can be used to ensure the camera is leveled).

The grid lines can also be very helpful to “frame” the shot as the center is clearly visible, so offsetting any subject from the center (or not) becomes easier. To turn grid lines On and Off, simply tap the “Options” menu in your camera (see image above). I believe this is a useful feature that could have made its way to iOS years ago.

iOS 5: Weekly View in Calendar App

weekcal

A new features in iOS 5 at the calendar application, which got a pretty handy new feature that gives you a weekly view when in landscape mode.

Whether you’re looking at your calendar in List, Day, or Month mode, you can simply rotate the orientation horizontally and you will get a weekly view of your calendar. From there, you can scroll left or right to go to past or future days. Once again, this is a nice addition to the latest iPhone OS. This makes it easy to get the big picture of what your week looks like and to easily scroll to other days in your calendar.

Jailbreak Tweak: VibLert- Make Your iPhone Vibrate for All Alerts

VibLert-0_1-1

When you put your iPhone on silent, there are certain notifications that can go unnoticed if your iPhone is in your pocket or purse. Sure, your iPhone will vibrate for missed calls and messages, but that’s about the extent of the option.

Jailbreak developer Dan Zimmerman has released a utility to remedy this problem. VibLert enables the vibrating notification option for all applications. This tweak is about as simple as it gets. There’s no home screen icon or settings to mess with. Simply download VibLert to start receiving a vibrating notification every time you get a uialertview (notification).

This is yet another fine by-product of the TweakWeak initiative, started by Ryan Petrich earlier this month. VibLert is a simple, functional utility and is available for free in Cydia.

VibLert 0.1-1 Features:-
Part of TweakWeek daily challenge
Vibrate iPhone while gets a uialertview
No icon to homescreen
No Configure options

Have you tried VibLert, and it’s that useful? Share with us.

Jailbreak Tweak: Adjust Your App Label Position With ‘LabelMover’

June 26th, 2011 by ytechcity

LabelMover is a new jailbreak tweak that will presumably be a part of the TweakWeek selection of tweaks.

The purpose of this tweak is to adjust the position of your app icon labels about 1/4th from the top of the app icon.

That’s pretty much all this tweak sets out to do, and to be honest with you, I uninstalled this right after shooting it…

LabelMover is one of those tweaks that you’ll either love or hate, and I definitely fall into the latter category.

You can find LabelMover on Ryan Petrich’s repo: http://rpetri.ch/repo/
