iPhone News: iOS 4.3.3 Coming soon

April 30th, 2011 by ytechcity

In Apple’s recent response to the iPhone’s location-tracking database, the company mentions that an update to iOS is coming, “sometime in the next few weeks.”

Due to a bug in the iPhone’s location database, Apple plans pushing an incremental update to iOS very soon. There’s no word on an official release date, but we should be seeing iOS 4.3.3 before the end of next month.

In its Q&A, Apple said that the next update to iOS would include,

?reduces the size of the crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower database cached on the iPhone,
?ceases backing up this cache, and
?deletes this cache entirely when Location Services is turned off.
In the next major iOS software release the cache will also be encrypted on the iPhone.

So, no major updates to speak of, but people that were concerned about the privacy issues related to this location-tracking issue will be able to rest easy.

The White iPhone 4 has finally launched this week should attract attention from those that simply want a different type of iPhone. Surprisingly, colour is not the only difference between the White and Black versions. According to engadget and tipb measurements, the white iPhone 4 is 0.2mm thicker than the black iPhone 4. So, basically it’s around 9.5mm, compared to the black iPhone 4 which is 9.3mm which meanning that White iPhone 4 is 0.2mm thicker!

According to TiPB (Check out TiPB’s gallery for more pics of the white iPhone 4), they have tested a couple of skins, pouches, bumpers, cases & even mophie juice pack pro and found no issues installing them on the White iPhone 4. This could be due to some tolerance and additional margins in the case to fit the device.

Why is it thicker? It was mentioned that Apple need to add additional UV protection layer to reduce interruptions between the cover and components. It was shared that this UV protection layer also helped to make the White iPad 2 possible.

If you purchased the white iPhone 4, have you noticed that it doesn’t fit in your old iPhone 4 case? Perhaps Apple will have to re-issue cases for the new white model.
