Software: TinyUmbrella Updated With iOS 5 Beta 6 Support

September 4th, 2011 by ytechcity

Heads up for those of you who are currently running one of the beta versions of iOS 5. Notcom recently updated TinyUmbrella, which now brings support for iOS 5 Beta 4, 5 and 6.

Unfortunately, it seems that this latest version was released right before Apple dropped iOS 5 Beta 7, so TinyUmbrella won’t support the latest beta…

As usual, it’d be wise to save your SHSH blobs. Not sure what we’re talking about here? Make sure to check our SHSH guide.

You can download the latest version of TinyUmbrella here.

It features both a grid view and a list view to make reading simple. And you can set it to download the entire content of a post, making it easier to read those excerpt feeds. Sharing and bookmarking is simple as well, with many choices like Twitter, Instapaper, E-Mail and more.

Open the app, log in with your Google credentials, and it automatically syncs your feeds.

• iOS 5.0 beta support
• Removed Web/Socks proxy options (App now just uses System proxy settings)
• Resized vertically for the resolutionally challenged few individuals that are stuck with pathetically small screens.
• Added some nag screens for folks that can’t figure out why they can’t save SHSHs because they can’t figure out how to uncheck a box and click a button.
• Fixed an overwrite of cdma iphone 4 5.0b1 blobs. (Resave them if you have an iPhone 4 CDMA)

Microsoft: Releases Internet Explorer 9 (IE9)

April 30th, 2011 by ytechcity

internet-explorer-9

After about 1 year of public testing since its 1st release of Platform Preview to developers on March 2010, Microsoft finally releases Internet Explorer 9 (IE9).

IE9 improves on support to the latest web technologies nowadays, including HTML5, CSS3, SVG, XHTML, and a new Javascript engine called “Chakra” (is this developed by Indian developers). It also features GPU-powered hardware acceleration for better and faster graphical and video support.

However, IE9 is only made available for Windows 7 and Windows Vista, and is not supporting Windows XP. This means that if you are still using Windows XP and want to use a modern web browser, you are forced to upgrade to later version of Windows, or you better change your favourite browser to the upcoming Firefox 4 or Chrome 9, which will also support for the latest web technologies, and at the same time still available to Windows XP.

Is it worth the download? Is it better than Google’s Chrome browser or Mozilla’s Firefox?
