Cydia Tweak: PasswordPilot Auto-Enters Your App Store Password

July 24th, 2011 by ytechcity

There was a time when App Store goers didn’t have to type their password in for every download. In fact, after entering it once, users had a 15 minute window to download software without having to constantly punch in a password.

However, after a few lawsuits and the threat of an FCC investigation, Apple changed the policy. Users now have to enter their Apple account passwords for every download, even a free one. Luckily, jailbreakers, there is now a tweak for that…

Enter PasswordPilot, a simple utility that automatically inserts your password for you when prompted by the App Store. This allows you to download apps until your heart’s content, without having to approve each time.

Once downloaded, simply go into your Settings app and tap the new PasswordPilot tab. Enter in your Apple account password and then leave Settings. Don’t worry, it saves and encrypts your password automatically.

While I wouldn’t recommend this tweak to folks who let friends or offspring play with their iDevice often, it is nice for the power user that downloads a lot of apps. PasswordPilot is available in Cydia for free.

PasswordPilot is available for free on FilippoBiga’s repo. The repo address is: http://filippobiga.me/repo/ – It should also be appearing on the BigBoss repo in the near future.

Swype for the iPad and iPhone is another way to type with a drag motion. Not always the easiest way to type, but some people will love it. It doesn’t interfere with the regular keyboard, so you can use it when and if you want.

To get Swype on your iPhone and/or iPad, download this deb file.

By following the given instruction you can install Swype on your Jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

• Firstly, Launch Cydia from the home screen.
• Tap on the “Manage” Tab after that tap on “Sources” section.
• Tap on the “Edit” button and tap “Add” to add the following repo URL to add sources: http://wynd.x10.mx/repo
• Once it is successfully added, tap on the “Search” tab at the bottom and search for ‘Swype’.
• Tap on Swype to select it from the search results.
• Then tap on the “Install” button and Install it.

No Swype icon will appear on your home screen, but you should be able to using Swype on your Jailbroken iOS devices.

Celcom: Offer LG Optimus 7 now from RM668

Windows Phone 7 devices are getting more affordable with now Celcom offering the LG Optimus 7 from as low as RM668. This is a big reduction which is lower than its initial RM777 offer for the first 150 units a few months ago.

Outright the device is priced at RM2099 and Celcom offers 4 different plan options with 12 months and 18 months contract duration. The RM668 bundle offer is tied on a 18 months contract with Celcom Exec 250 which comes with 5GB mobile data. For those who want smaller commitments, there are other lower commitment plans between RM78-RM118/month.

Just a few days ago, Maxis had reduced their HTC HD7 bundled pricing to as low as RM799 which is tied to a 24 months contract. Now we’re wondering if DiGi drop their WP7 pricing as well.

For more info, head over to Celcom’s Windows Phone 7 site.
