July 30th, 2011 by ytechcity

Google have update Gmail in the Android Market to version 2.3.5 and with that, a couple of awesome new features to help keep your sanity. The first being label specific notifications, which can come in handy if you’re like me and have about 40 emails hitting your device every minute and don’t want to have to keep checking your phone for every incoming message. The other is sync priority mail only which could help conserve battery and leave the unimportant emails waiting for you to check on your comp when you get home.

The dedicated Gmail application integrated with Contacts and Android applications.
* Email pushed automatically to your phone
* Search all your messages
* Access synched messages when off line
* View messages by conversation
* Multiple Gmail accounts
* Stars, labels, and many other features

For some reason the update is showing on the Android Market web but if you check your device, the update should be waiting for you. Enjoy!

July 30th, 2011 by ytechcity

Samsung Malaysia will complete Samsung’s tablet trio by bringing in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 to Malaysia as well. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be launched around one month after the 10.1 hits Malaysian stores. So if the Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes out this month, the 8.9 could be here sometime around September or October.

In term of specifications, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 has virtually identical internals save for the fact that its screen is smaller at 8.9-inches.

And that’s all we know for now. As always, pricing and other bits of information with regards to the 8.9 is not available at the moment — but as soon as we know, you’ll know.

News: Prices for local Motorola Xoom drops

July 27th, 2011 by ytechcity

Motorola-Xoom

Earlier this month, Motorola in the States revised the retail pricing for their Xoom tablet. Now, it appears that the price revision benefits local units for as well.

IMCC Network has just announced the new pricing for their Motorola Xoom stock. The 32GB 3G Xoom is now RM2,399 from RM2,599 while the WiFi only version with the same storage capacity is now priced at a rather enticing RM1,899 from RM2,099 previously.

The price drop for the local units of the Xoom coincides roughly with the US$100 price drop announced by Motorola in the US earlier. We’re not sure if other local retailers will revise their Xoom pricing but we don’t see a reason why they shouldn’t.

With the new pricing, will you go for the Xoom?
