Maxis is doing another round of festive promos on devices with more discounts on selected phones. This promo however is tied with a 24 months contract with either a 3GB data plan or BIS Pro plan that comes with 3GB.

The Nokia N8 is now RM788 (usual RM999 with 24 months contract) while the Motorola Defy is now offered at RM888 (usual: RM999). The HTC Desire Z also sees a reduction to RM1388 (usual: RM1449).

BlackBerries are reduced with a slight reduction on its older Curve 8520 and Bold 9700 but the Torch is further reduced to RM1288 from its previous 24 months contract price of RM1399.

On the Windows Phone 7 line up, the HTC 7 Mozart is now offered at a much lower RM1188 (usual RM1499) while the larger HTC HD7 is offered at RM1388 (usual RM1699).

Maxis is offering an outright price of RM1999 (original RRP: RM2699) with any purchase of a Value Plus Plan and data plan. As comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is offered on contract at RM1749 over 24 months and RM1849 over 12 months.

Celcom is doing something special this Chinese New Year by giving away a limited edition red colour BlackBerry Torch everyday from 20th January till 18th February 2011. That’s a total of 30 red colour BlackBerry Torches. This promotional giveaway is open to all Celcom Postpaid and Prepaid customers with a BlackBerry plan excluding corporate account customers.

According to the Celcom T&C, prepaid customers must be a subscriber for any Prepaid Blackberry daily plane. While Postpaid customers must be on either BlackBerry Basic, BlackBerry Lite, BlackBerry Pro, BlackBerry Advanced, BlackBerry Professional Lite or BlackBerry Professional plans.

U Mobile has finally joined the BlackBerry bandwagon with a special firesale on BlackBerry Bold 9780 and BlackBerry Curve 9300! This also makes U Mobile, the 4th option for BlackBerry BIS service in Malaysia.

During the firesale, U Mobile is offering the Bold 9780 for RM3 for the first 10 in line. The next 50 people can get the Curve 9300 for RM33 and the subsequent 50 for RM333. Do note that this is only happening this Friday, 21st Jan 2011. To be entitled, you would need to sign a minimum 12 months contract with any voice plan and add-on BIS service. There’s a RM250 advance payment required up front which will be used to knock off your future bills. The Blackberry offered comes with 18 months warranty from Brightstar.

DiGi is doing a Chinese New year offer for its iDiGi plans from now until 28th February. For those who signed up or upgrade to their higher iDiGi 138 and iDiGi 238 Plans, you’ll get RM288 worth of extra savings.

This RM288 however isn’t a discount for the iPhone 4. However it is RM288 worth of extra DiGi to DiGi usage for calls, SMS and MMS over a span of 6 months. To break it down, that’s actually RM48/monthly for 6 months. Don’t assume this is a discount as you would still need to pay your minimum monthly usage bundled with your iDiGi plans. In other words, you are able to make more calls within DiGi for free but if you hardly use it, this isn’t much value to you.

Apple Store is doing one-day shopping event for Chinese New Year where they are throwing extra discounts on a range of Apple devices. If you’ve been holding up your purchase for some extra savings, now is the time to consider. Do note that this is only happening today 14th January 2011.

The iPad now is even cheaper with RM131 discounts across all models. This makes the entry level 16GB WiFi version going for RM1418 from its usual RM1549 pricing. The highest end iPad 64GB with 3G goes for RM2468.

You can get the latest iPod Touch from RM749 (RM81 off) for the 8GB version or the tiny iPod Nano 8GB for RM508 (RM41 off). There’s also additional discount of RM331 on MacBooks and iMacs.
