News: Sony Ericsson to offer Windows Phone 7 devices soon

According to a Bloomberg report, Sony Ericsson is phasing out Nokia dominated Symbian platform as they claim that the ecosystem isn’t as good as Android. Its CEO Djurberg also added that a X10 successor is expected to be announced this quarter and they would need to launch a Windows Phone 7 device soon. Sony Ericsson is the 3rd mobile manufacturing to offer Windows Phone 7 just after HTC and Samsung.

Sony Ericsson did a horrible job on Symbian and did even worse on Android platform. Now they want to jump right into Windows Phone 7? When Sony Ericsson started to offer Android, we’re pretty excited as we would expected them to make feature-packed phones with no compromises.

Today, their latest Android line up is still running an older Android 1.6. Even the latest Xperia X8 was not spared while its Android rivals are churning out Android 2.2 Froyo devices right now. Their last flagship Symbian device, the Satio was utterly rubbish when it comes to usability. Our point is simple, if they can’t even do a proper job on Android, why bother with Windows Phone 7?

News: Maxis first one to offer HTC HD7

October 14th, 2010 by ytechcity

HTC-HD7-Maxis

Maxis has just announce that it will offer the just released HTC HD7 running on Windows Phone 7.

The HTC HD7 is HTC’s media powerhouse device running on the new Windows Phone 7 platform. It packs a 4.3in screen with a 1GHz processor and 576MB of RAM. There’s 16GB worth of internal storage, oddly enough there’s no mention of microSD support.

The HD7 also has a 5MP camera that’s capable of recording video in 720p. As a media player phone, the HD7 can output sound in Dolby Mobile with SRS surround sound capabilities. As media phone, we don’t like that there’s no HDMI connectivity.

No world on pricing or availability but expect the HD7 to be priced along the same lines as the HTC Desire

Android Phones: HTC T-Mobile G2 officially revealed

September 15th, 2010 by ytechcity

It is finally revealed! The replacement of the pioneering T-Mobile G1, the T-Mobile G2 is now open for pre-ordering.

Just as mentioned earlier, the T-Mobile G2 runs on a 800MHz processor, Android 2.2 Froyo, 4GB on board storage and supports HSPA+, making it the first Android smartphone to offer “4G-like speeds” on a 3G network. Pre-orders starts on 10th September by BestBuy and it expects to hit all stores by 6th October. It goes for $199 over a 2 year contract.

While this is good news, we’re also waiting for the non T-Mobile branded version, dubbed the HTC Desire Z. We’re looking forward for its announcement during the 15th September HTC event in London.
