October 23rd, 2011 by ytechcity

The iPhone 4S has finally gotten its innards expose with iFixit professional tear down. Apart from the new processor, 8MP camera and dual CDMA/GSM support, we are able to find out what else is new on this model compared to the previous iPhone 4.

First is the RAM which was earlier said to be either 512MB or 1GB. From the tear down, it is finally confirmed that the iPhone 4S offers 512MB which is the same capacity as the previous model. This was identified from the marking on the A5 chip.

Another surprise is the battery which has a slightly higher capacity of 5.3Whr. This is 0.05Whr more than the original iPhone 4 which is rated at 5.25Whr. For those that are used to mAh battery capacity rating, that’s an extra 14mAh. The vibrator is using the one found on the CDMA version of the iPhone 4 which is reported to be quieter and softer than the previous version.

Phones: Samsung Galaxy Nexus powered with Android 4.0

October 23rd, 2011 by ytechcity

Google and Samsung have officially high-fived each other and unviled the result of their collaboration: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset which is the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich powered phone on the planet.

It’s a slim creation with a super slender form factor, sporting a hefty 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED, 1280 x 720 (720p) display backed by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a generous 1GB RAM onboard.

Measuring 8.94mm thick and weighing 135g, the Nexus has a 5-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash (capable of shooting 1080p video), with a front-facing 1.3 megapixel snapper.

Samsung says that there is no shutter lag on their new creation, and there’s also a new single motion panorama mode onboard.

Other specs include NFC tech, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi and HSPA+, a proximity sensor and, rather curiously, a barometer.

Best of all, the Nexus comes with the next generation of the Android OS, which regales under the daft name of ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ – or Android 4.0 if you prefer.

The Galaxy Nexus will be available in 16GB and 32GB flavours, with a November UK launch scheduled.

HTC: Another upcoming HTC device outed

September 18th, 2011 by ytechcity

HTC has been really busy of late with a slew of devices expected to make their debut in the coming weeks. The latest of which is this, the HTC Rhyme (codenamed: Bliss).

Below is some unconfirmed specs on the internet machine:
*Comes with HTC Charm — an pendant-like accessory that glows to tell user of incoming calls or messages
*3.7-inch display
*1GHz single-core processor
*5MP camera with 720p video recording

The HTC Rhyme departs from the other Android smartphone in HTC’s range as it is the first to be primarily designed for women. For now we’re only presented with an official-looking render of the device with no details on specifications and pricing.

Though from the picture, we can see that the Rhyme is running a cleaner looking Sense 3.5. September 20 is the expected launch date and it appears that Asia may be a key market for the device (notice Singapore set as default location in the weather widget?)

So ladies, what do you think? The HTC Rhyme tickle your fancy?
