Android Phones: HTC T-Mobile G2 officially revealed

It is finally revealed! The replacement of the pioneering T-Mobile G1, the T-Mobile G2 is now open for pre-ordering.

Just as mentioned earlier, the T-Mobile G2 runs on a 800MHz processor, Android 2.2 Froyo, 4GB on board storage and supports HSPA+, making it the first Android smartphone to offer “4G-like speeds” on a 3G network. Pre-orders starts on 10th September by BestBuy and it expects to hit all stores by 6th October. It goes for $199 over a 2 year contract.

While this is good news, we’re also waiting for the non T-Mobile branded version, dubbed the HTC Desire Z. We’re looking forward for its announcement during the 15th September HTC event in London.

News: Digi just offer Micro SIM

It was long time ago, Maxis launch the Mirco Sim for iPad user. The Micro SIMs from DiGi has been available from September 9 and requires you to pay a “SIM replacement” fee of RM20 (where Maxis need you to pay RM25). To get a Micro SIM from DiGi, all you need to do is walk-in to selected DiGi Centres and request a Micro SIM replacement from any of the participating DiGi Centres nationwide.

Android Phones: Huawei Ideos To Launch Next Month

Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei has launched a new Android Phone called the IDEOS running on Froyo or Android 2.2. The phone has been developed in partnership with Google. The company is aiming to redefine the meaning of an entry level smartphone with the IDEOS. Huawei IDEOS that will sell between £99(RM400) and £129(RM520) in the mass market.

The Google-branded phone runs on the latest Android 2.2 mobile OS and set to be available sometime next month in Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America and Latin America.


The Huawei IDEOS will be available in blue, black, purple and yellow version.

The specification of the mobile includes a 2.8 inch touch-screen, 3.2 mega-pixel camera, built-in GPS and 512mb of onboard memory. It is powered by a 500 MHz mobile processor and has both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.

News: U Mobile broadband promo offers free modem

U Mobile is now offering free USB 3G modem with subscription to the UB40 and UB68 mobile broadband plans which seems to support up to maximum 3.6Mbps download. This promotion come with FREE ZTE MF180 modem.

The promo requires that you pay RM168 upfront and RM100 will be rebated back into your bill in the form of RM20 across five months.

Other than that there’s no changes to the mobile broadband plans offered by U Mobile. The UB40 offers download speeds of up to 1.0Mpbs with a 2GB data cap. Additional data usage after the 2GB cap will be charged RM10/MB with a maximum charge of RM176/month for excess data on top of your monthly subscription.

For UB68, you get “unlimited” data usage and download speeds of up of 3.6Mbps. By unlimited, U Mobile means you get 5GB data a month at up to 3.6Mbps download, once you burst that cap, you connection will be throttled until the next billing cycle (there’s no charge for additional data).
