How to create “Read More…” link
August 22nd, 2009 by ytechcityHave you founded that some of your post is too long and make the front page is too long also. In this post, i will show you how to split the posts of your blog so that only the first part of the post is displayed on the home and archive (monthly, category, etc…) views. When you do this, a link will be placed directly after your excerpt, pointing the reader to the full content of the post.
What is ‘Read More’?
Read more is a button you click on to determine the section of your post which readers see straight away. Anything below that code, readers will need to click the text “Read More…” link to see the rest of the post.
Using the More tag
1) Go to Posts -> Add New in your dashboard to create a new blog entry.
2) Begin writing your post. When you decide that you want to cut it off, you can insert the More tag to effectively split the post (mark where the excerpt officially ends) or by pressing Alt+Shift+T. You will see, in the visual editor, the More tag as such:

3) Finish writing your post.
4) Publish the post and view the front page of your blog. You should see your post effectively split using the More tag. Click on the link, and you will be taken to the post in its full form.
